Larry Wilson Davis, age 75 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 29th, 2023. He was born May 18th, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio.
Larry attended Northridge High School and graduated in 1966. He went on to have a career in the skilled trade of a tool and die maker at GM. Larry's two children, Missy and Jason, were his pride and joy. When Missy and Jason were in school, Larry was quite involved in their sports activities. He loved being a coach at the local Brookville Baseball Club. Larry never knew a stranger. He was a storyteller, a jokester, a twizzler and tequila lover. Larry was a dedicated supporter of his Cleveland Browns, even during the bad times, and was a big fan of Ohio State and the Cincinnati Reds. He was a social member of the American Legion Post 746. Interests high on his list were playing softball and volleyball, boating with his family at Cumberland Lake, and his Thursday lunches with the guys. Larry took great pride in all his grandchildren and enjoyed nothing more than watching Amanda, Zach, Ally, and Noah playing in all their school sports and dance recitals. Larry enjoyed spending time with his youngest grandson Chase doing chemistry projects, making up secret potions, and convincing the family to drink them. Larry's fun-loving personality was contagious to be around, and he could always be found with a smile on his face. Our hearts are broken with loss, but Larry will forever be a part of who we are and how we live.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Sue Davis; his brother, Timothy; his daughter, Missy; and son-in-law John Burneka; and great-grand pup Hank.
Larry is survived by his son, Jason (Kammy) Davis; grandchildren: Chase Davis, Amanda (Max), Zach, Ally, and Noah Burneka; his brother, Gibby (Julie) Davis; nephews: Jeff, Ben, and Brent Davis; niece, Jodi Stratton; and many other loving family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm.
