Larry C. Bushman

October 19, 1940 — February 16, 2023

Larry C. Bushman, age 82 of Beavercreek, passed away on Thursday, February 16 with his sons at his side. He is survived by his two sons, Matthew and Mark, his sister Marjorie (Walt) Ruf, his companion Ruth Verceles and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life Barbara Bushman.

Larry was a graduate of Fairmont High School and went on to Sinclair Community College where he completed his degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as an engineer for General Motors for many years and later with LINK.

Larry met Barbara in high school but they didn't date until a few years out of high school. They were married in March of 1962 and celebrated 57 wonderful years until her passing. He and Barbara raised two great sons together. Larry coached their soccer teams, served on the Woodhaven board while the boys swam, and encouraged their love of BMX racing. He was as dedicated a father as he was a husband. His sons will always carry memories of their childhood and the family trips to Florida with them.

He was a fan of college basketball with a strong love for the University of Dayton Flyers. He was an avid golfer, even volunteering at Beavercreek Golf Club as a golf ranger throughout his retirement. He loved being on the course with his many golfing comrades, old and new. Larry also volunteered at Carillon Park in Dayton. Larry was a longtime resident of Beavercreek and member of the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Larry never met a person he didn't consider a friend and treat as family. His smile and laugh were contagious and he displayed unconditional love for all people who he had ever met and spent time with. This is evident by the large network of close friends that visited and reached out to Larry and his family these past few months; friends from his own childhood, his work relationships, those who raised their children alongside him and Barb, his golfing and church communities, and those who met him by happenstance.

The family will be forever grateful to the staff at Beehive of Springboro and Hospice of Dayton for caring for Larry in his final weeks and helping them through their loss.

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Wednesday March 1st, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Please consider a donation in Larry's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
