Larry Brooks, a cherished soul whose creativity and problem-solving prowess matched his vibrant spirit, departed this world on November 5, 2024, just two days shy of his 74th birthday. Born on November 7, 1950, Larry encompassed the very essence of joy and passion throughout his life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
A proud veteran, Larry served in the Air Force during the tumultuous Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that instilled in him a profound sense of duty and camaraderie. After his service, he returned home and dedicated 35 years to a fulfilling career at Trimble Navigation, where his innovative flair and tenacity shone brightly. Always the one to lend a helping hand or share an ingenious fix, he was known for his unwavering ability to tackle challenges with a smile.
Larry's love for music was unmistakable, with the rhythm of drums echoing in the backdrop of his life. Whether setting down a beat for a casual jam session or lost in the melodies of his favorite tunes, he experienced a joy that few could comprehend. Beyond music, he found solace in the simple pleasures of life—playing cards that stretched long into the night, casting lines as he fished quietly on a tranquil lake, and swimming freely, reveling in the cool depths.
He was a connoisseur of laughter, often found watching his cherished show, The Andy Griffith Show, where its wholesome humor mirrored his own jovial outlook on life. Yet, what lit up Larry's heart most was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jeana Brooks, whom he married on July 27, 1980, and their love shook the earth, literally, when an earthquake occurred on their wedding day. Jeana’s love and companionship brought him immeasurable joy. His legacy continues through his children, Leanna Jean (Andrew) Jacomet and Sara Brooks, as well as his adored grandson, Oliver Jacomet, whom he was fortunate to have spent the last two years with. His brothers—Bobby (Sharon) Brooks, Jim (Mitzi) Brooks, and Garry Brooks—will carry forth his memory, bound together by loving recollections of times shared.
Larry will be profoundly missed by many close family members and friends, all of whom were touched by his kind heart and creative spirit. Although he has reunited with his dear parents, Glenn and Marjorie Brooks, in eternity, his legacy lingers in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
As we celebrate the remarkable life of Larry Brooks, let us remember the laughter that filled the room, the sweet cadence of his drumming, and the warmth he brought to every gathering, for he was not just a man; he was his own song—an everlasting tune that will echo through the lives he enriched.
