Lanny Lee Carroll, age 72, formerly of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Lanny was born November 22, 1949, in Dayton, OH, the son of the late Bill and Ilene Hamilton Carroll.
He is survived by his son, Scott Mallory of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Ethan and Kate Mallory; two sisters, Deborah "Sissy" Allen and Cathy Snyder, both of Brookville, OH; two brothers, Terry Carroll of Dayton, OH and Billy Carroll of New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and many loving friends whom he met over the years.
Lanny was a 1968 graduate of Northridge High School. Achieving the rank of Major, he proudly served his country and had a successful career in the United States Army and Navy before retiring. Moving to Tippah County, Mississippi, 10 years ago, Lanny enjoyed the rural way of life and had a passion for Icelandic horses. He was the proud Owner/Operator of Northstar Icelandic Farm (which originated in Brookville, Ohio) of Booneville, Mississippi. While stationed as an Engineer with the military in Iceland, he discovered his passion for raising/training Icelandic horses. He had received many accolades and awards during his time raising horses.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where Funeral Services will begin at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
