Lannie D. Lawrence, "JR", beloved partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, age 65, formerly of Moraine, Ohio, of New Palestine, IN, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2020.
Lannie was known widely for being the life of the party wherever he went. He loved Karaoke and being the center of attention. Lannie liked to go to Turkey Shoots, Car Shows, and was an avid Nascar fan. He loved being outdoors, tinkering and working with his hands. Lannie always left a great impression on those who knew him and never knew a stranger. He had a heart of gold and would do anything to help others.
He was retired from the City of Moraine Street Department after 31 years. In his early years he volunteered with the Fire Department and EMT service for the City of Moraine.
Lannie was preceded in death by his parents, Lanta and Inez (Shephard) Lawrence, and his daughter, Amy Miller.
He is survived by his daughter, Genia (Shawn) Adams; his life-long companion and mother of his children, Debra Lawrence; son-in-law, Wes Miller; grandchildren, Taylor (Tamra) Haney, Terri Adams, Lauren Miller, Lydia "Connor" Miller; great-granddaughter, Maddilynn Jones and "granddaughter", Michelle Adams.
Lannie is also survived by former spouse, Judy Bocock; step-son, Terry Lee Rector; step-grandchildren, Madison and Trey Rector, his brothers-in-spirit, Terry Brant, Al Wynia, Eddie Haney, nieces, nephews, other family members and the many friends he made over the years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
