L. Wayne Fouts

FOUTS, L. Wayne, age 83 passed away September 21, 2011 at his home. He was born October 8, 1927 in Richmond, Indiana to the late, Lawrence Cassius and Olive Opal Fouts. He graduated from Greensfork HS (Clay Township, Indiana HS) in 1945 and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy from 1945-46; attended Electronics school in Louisville, Kentucky and again in the US Navy from 1950-1955 as an electronics technician on submarines.

Wayne served as temporary postmaster in New Paris, OH in 1960-1962 and retired from Defense Electronic Supply Center (DESC) in 1985 after 21 years, as an electronics technician. He also retired from Tremac in Xenia in 2008. He was a 50 year member of the Masons, including the #49 F&AM Nathaniel Greene Commandery No. 81, Xenia Chapter #36 RAM, Wright Council #96 R.&S.M. and held various positions in the BPOE #668 Xenia Elks.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Steven Bud Fouts and sisters, Maureeen Evans, Alta Johnson, Grace Bowman, Dorothea Pardo and Janice Joann Fouts. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alma I. (King) Fouts from Centerville, Indiana (currently of Xenia, Ohio) and son, Richard "Jay" Fouts of Dayton (and Barbara Boyd); daughter, Cindy and her husband, Greg Oakley of Xenia; grandchildren, Rich Fouts and wife, Amy of Xenia and their 3 children, Austin, Haley and Taylor; Frank Fouts and wife, Melissa and their 2 children, Frankie, and Bailey of Xenia; Crissy and son, Gideon Fouts of Dayton, and Jaime and Ryan Rankin and their daughter, Ryleigh of Orlando, Florida; Benjamin and Leslie Price Oakley of San Antonio, TX and Sara and Nate Smyth of Kettering and their children, Kieran and Quinn.

He is also survived by sisters, Eloise Gray of Orange, California, Martha Cordell of Bloomington, Indiana; brothers, Joseph Fouts of Richmond, Indiana, Wilbur Fouts of Sun City, Arizona, and brother-in-law Andy Pardo of Show Low, Arizona; sister-in-laws, Olive Baker of Economy, Indiana, Judy Hamm of Centerville, Indiana and Kay Smith of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 23, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Masonic service held at 7:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Centerville, Indiana, where the family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to services.
