L. Scott Inskeep

August 8, 1961 — May 8, 2024

Lyle "Scott" Inskeep, 62, of Crossville, TN, formerly of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on May 8th, 2024. He was born on August 8th, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Scott was a bold figure in stature, standing at 6'5", and in personality, as he commanded the attention of every room he entered. He was professionally driven, yet always fair and firm in dealing with the difficult situations he encountered as a leader.

Scott graduated from Lockland High School in 1979. He continued his education at Otterbein College, where he received a basketball scholarship and graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary/secondary education. He then graduated from Xavier University with a master's degree in educational administration.

Scott's lifelong career in education was marked by dedication and leadership. He started at Mason Middle School as a biology teacher and served as a head and assistant coach for several athletic teams. Over the years, he served as the principal at several schools, including Mason Heights Elementary School, Mason Middle School, and Reading Junior Senior High School. He then went on to become the Superintendent of the Reading Community City School District and the Kettering City School District. Most recently, he worked for the Hamilton County Educational Service Center. Colleagues remember him as a mentor who always aimed to empower others to succeed.

Outside of work, Scott had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He was a man of many talents and enjoyed traveling, cooking, golfing, reading, and fishing. He cherished spending time with his family and friends. In Tennessee, he found joy in sipping morning coffee while overlooking the lake and savoring a glass of bourbon. Scott had a playful side, often teasing and giving nicknames to those closest to him. He was filled with wonder at the sight of snow and loved celebrating Christmas and was especially proud of his ability to guess what his gifts were.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Janice Inskeep. He is survived by his wife, Teri; daughters, Hannah (Andrew) Doughty and Taylor Inskeep, and their mother, Carol Inskeep; sisters, Jill (Bill) Blaxton and Samantha (Tommy Tucker) Inskeep; niece, Hailey Blaxton; sisters-in-law, Ann Barhorst, Betse (Doug) O'Keefe, Marilyn (Mike) Kerr, Lynne Barst; brother-in-law, Joe Barhorst; and his beloved dogs, Jojo and Marin.
