Kurt J. Hensley, age 34 passed away suddenly Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home. He was born on September 10, 1979 in Dayton, OH
Kurt was preceded in death by his brother Matt, his grandfathers George Hensley and Richard Oiler, his cousin Jennifer Hensley, and great grandparents on both sides of his family.
Left to suffer his passing are his father Lew Hensley, his mom and best friend Connie Pursifull and his second dad O'dell Pursifull. He is survived by grandmothers Doris Oiler and Helen Hensley, his uncles Rick and Phil (amy) Oiler and Dan Hensley; aunt Penni Chafins; his cousins Lindsi, Laci, Philip, and Reece, as well as his niece Valerie Hensley; great nephew Matthew Shingleton; and his very special "niece-in-law" Kate. In addition he is survived by many other family members as well as an awesome family of friends who are his brothers and sisters in spirit. He was a true champion of the underdog and was always there with his hands out to lift anyone up.
Kurt's gentle soul, zest for life and his live-for-today spirit touched all who knew him. His smile lit up any room he was in and his charm and quick wit served him well throughout his life. He was a 1997 graduate of Vandalia Butler High School and attended ITT Tech. While his first passion was creating music, he was especially proud of his work as a member of All Sounds Unlimited's team of talented Dj's and entertainers. Kurt felt honored to be such a big part of a bride and groom's special day and worked diligently to make it special for everyone. His colleagues dubbed him "DJ Kurtains"- the nickname stuck and it was one he was proud to wear. He greatly admired and respected his boss and mentor Dave Brown, saying he was fortunate to "learn from the master".
The hole left by his passing will never be filled. He took the sunshine from the sky upon his leaving. In his memory his parents ask that you lend a friend a hand, hug your kids twice and rejoice in the peace that is now his.
