Ki Myong Nam, age 76, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Hospice of Dayton, surrounded by his loved ones. Ki Myong was born in 1942 in the Republic of South Korea. He was the son of the late Nam, Byong U and Hong, Dong Yon.
Ki Myong, or "Nammi" as he was affectionately known, loved to fish and garden. He had a passion for gardening, nurturing and watching things grow. He had a deep love for animals. Nammi was the youngest of 3 children and immigrated to the states in 1978. He worked hard to provide for his loving wife and 4 daughters. He retired from University of Dayton in 2008 after 29 years of dedicated service.
Nammi is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mal Sun (nee Kim) Nam, his 4 daughters, Sun Mi (Rakinyo) Boyd, Sun Yong (John) Trittschuh, Sang Mi Nam, and Tracy Nam (Ashley) Ashbrook. He enjoyed watching the family grow with his 6 beautiful grandchildren, Ariannah Nicole Nam, Haley Kay Trittschuh, Madison Leigh Nam, Ella Sun Trittschuh, Talon Nam Boyd, and Sunaiya Kim Boyd. He is also survived by a brother and sister in South Korea.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Oh 45424 on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, May 31, 2019. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Ki Myong Nam to Hospice of Dayton.
