Kermit Francis Hicks Sr., Retired Master Sergeant, United States Air Force, 81 of Huber Heights, Ohio a proud, patriotic veteran with an expansive 26 years of honorable military service, passed on Saturday, June 18, 2022 where he is at peace and completely in the presence of the Divine and Our Lord and Savior.
Kermit lived his life with an enthusiasm for and a curiosity to meet new people, travel to many lands, discover new activities and support many organizations in the places he and his family enjoyed becoming a part of.
Kermit loved music, particularly jazz, Motown and others. Although Kermit had a lovely doo-wop smooth tone and tenor to his voice and his children benefited from inheriting many of their father's greater qualities of determination, strong work ethic, resiliency, curiosity, kindness and a quick witted humor, sadly none of his children inherited his lovely singing voice.
Kermit loved sports and helping others. He was a multi-year volunteer in support of the USAF Annual Marathon and even completed the marathon himself on not one but two occasions!
Kermit was thrilled to become a National Hall of Fame inductee for the Senior Olympics in 2013 where he made friends easily and competed for many seasons. He was a champion competitor in individual table tennis events and partnered with the love of his life and wife Elizabeth in other events competing across the country together and winning medals together just as they celebrated many wins, memories and wonderful times in their decades of marriage.
Kermit began life in our nation's capitol, Washington, D.C. born to the late Herman Sr. & Thelma Hicks. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Marie, Gloria, Doris, Connie and Lanita; brothers Robert, Millard, and infant brother, Conrad. Kermit is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 57 years, Elizabeth Hicks; his legacy of life includes children, Maria (Wil), Linda, Toni, Kermit Jr. (Shana) and Kevin (John); grandchildren, Jaque, Kelly, Nique, Demarcus, Cris, Ashley, Jazmyne, Kathryn, Damian, Darren and Natalie; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Makenzi, Cameron, Makenah, Kelis, Tyana, Tyrann, Madison, Leia, Uriah, Carlos, Myles and Kelly III; brothers, Herman Jr. (Priscilla, deceased) and Donald (Patricia); and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, in-laws and friends were blessed to have known Kermit Hicks Sr.
