God called an Angel home on November 28, 2020. Kenneth "Ken" VanBuren, age 79, of Miamisburg, passed away at Soin Medical Center. Ken was born on November 16, 1941, in Louisville, KY. He was the son of Hildebert and Althea (Taylor) VanBuren. On April 23, 1971, at the Grace Lutheran Church in West Carrollton, Ken married the love of his life Patricia "Patty" L. Van Buren (Ginter).
Throughout his life, sports played a major role in Ken's life. He graduated from Miamisburg High School where he lettered in 4 sports. He continued his athletic career and education by going on to play 4 sports for the University of Cincinnati where he received his Bachelor's Degree. After graduating college, Ken taught high school for three years, and spent the remainder of his career working with General Motors as a roll-tester. He retired in 1996 after 31 years of dedication.
During his adult life, Ken remained very involved in the Miamisburg High School sports program. He coached the football team and wrestling teams for many years. He was the founder of the school's wrestling program. Because of his many years of service and commitment to his school and students, Ken was very proud to have been inducted in to the Miamisburg High School Hall of Fame.
Ken was an active and devoted member of the Centerville Seventh Day Adventist Church. In his free time, he loved working part-time at the Pipe Stone Golf Course where he loved to play golf. He would take several golf trips every year with his friends. Ken was a wonderful husband and father to his family that he loved so much, and will be missed dearly.

Ken leaves behind a living legacy consisting of his loving wife, Patricia "Patty" of Miamisburg; son and best friend, Matthew Brett VanBuren of Miamisburg; nieces, Ann (Jim) Gutmann of Springboro, Jennifer (Jack) Suter of Centerville, and Cyndi (Pete) Fagerland of Loveland; nephew, Scott (Michelle) VanBuren of Springfield, VA; great-nieces and nephews, Dalton Suter, Ashton Suter, Max Gutmann, Paige Gutmann, and Brady Gutmann; sister, Dotty Haines; sister-in-law, Josie Lindsay; brother-in-law, Mike Bishop; and several extended family members and dear friends.
Along with his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack VanBuren and Bud VanBuren; sister-in-law, Glenna Bishop; and his niece Tracy VanBuren.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg with Pastor Winston Baldwin of the Centerville Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating.
The state of Ohio is under a mandatory order and has required that face mask will be worn in all public places.
