Kenneth "Toby" P. Tate, Jr., age 74, of Dayton, transitioned on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Grandview Hospital. He was born June 26, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Emily Tate and Kenneth Tate, Sr.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Todd O'Neal; nephew, Tony Ogleton and brother, Tommy Anderson.
Toby is survived by his children, Tiffiny (Ulysses) Lutz, Misteregna O'Neal, NurUllah O'Neal, Rana Tate and Immanuel Tate; grandchildren, Zoe (Alex) Miller, Lexie Vanjohnson, Kayla O'Neal, Christian O'Neal, Krystal O'Neal, Emily Tate-Wright, Donna Tate and Elijah O'Neal; siblings, Relda Ogleton, Jeffrey Anderson and Eric (Sherrie) Anderson; former spouses, Carol (Michael) Sampson and Rosanna Tate; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Toby was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed studying ancient history, playing chess and shooting pool. He was the founder of the non-profit Universal SEEDS. Toby loved to travel to the Caribbean and founded the touring company "The Jamaican Experience". Toby graduated from Roth High School in 1964. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in History from University Without Walls and studied for his Master's Degree in Psychology at Antioch College.
Family will receive friends Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road.
