Kenneth E. Lewis, age 87 of Xenia, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 9, 1935 in Knoxville, Tennessee the son of the late James and Grace Lewis.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Lewis; son-in-law, Dale Rumpf; brother, Archie Lewis and sister, Millie Black.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Debra Lewis (Randy) Baker and Sherry Lewis Rumpf both of Arizona, Son, Randy (Donna) Lewis of Florida, brother, Sherrell (Karen) Lewis of Dayton; brother-in-law, Bill (Sharon) Hale of Florida, six grandchildren, Jessica (Jim) Heggarty, Tyler (Christine) Rumpf, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Baker, James (Shannon) Rumpf, Rebekah Lewis and Benjamin Lewis. Three great grandchildren, Jack Heggarty, Talon Rumpf and Penelope Rumpf.
Ken was a devout Christian who attended the Nazarene Church for many years. He was a living example of faithfulness to God. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Ken was the patriarch of his family who offered unconditional love and support to all those he touched. Also, a resident and welcoming neighbor of Xenia, Ohio for 64 wonderful years and who never met a stranger. Ken and Ruth enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to the next adventure. After 19 years at NCR, Ken began a new career at Supervalu from where he retired after 23 years of service. He Enjoyed sharing his faith, knowledge and experience and sense of humor with all those he encountered. His sense of compassion was never more evident than when he devoted 7 ½ years as caregiver prior to Ruth's passing in 2020. Please join us as we celebration Ken's homecoming to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Ken will be laid to rest next to his loving wife at Valley View Memorial Gardens following the service.
