Kenneth E. Jones, "Sonnie" to family and friends, of Fairborn, OH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 6, 2022. He was 84 years old.
Sonnie was born on June 17, 1938, in Greenbush, OH, and moved to Kentucky as a boy, where he met and eventually married Nannie D. Maloney on January 31, 1957. Sonnie served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft maintenance technician until 1960. After his discharge, he settled with his young family in Fairborn, OH. Sonnie retired from the HVAC maintenance shop at General Motors after 25 years of service. In his retirement, he ministered to the grieving at Newcomer Funeral Home.
Sonnie was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Fairborn for more than 60 years, and faithfully served over the years as a Church Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Deacon. He loved the Lord, cherished His Word,and prayed to see God's Kingdom come here on earth in the life of his family and friends. His family was his most treasured gift, and he would often say that "there is no greater joy than to see your children walk in truth." He was a servant leader who led by example, and his family knew beyond a doubt that they were loved.
Sonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Grace (Lykins) Jones; two sisters, Wanda Martin and Glenda Mullins; and brother, Eugene Jones. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nan; 4 children, Tim (Audrey) Jones, Mike (Doris) Jones, Sherry (Dale) Gajewski and Cynthia (Neil) Braccini; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Dave (Pat) Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Sonnie's Life will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 2920 Beaver Valley Rd., Fairborn, OH, 45324, on Friday, October 14, 2022, with a Visitation from 10:00am-12:00pm, and Service at 12:00pm. Military Honors will be presented at Byron Cemetery following the services.
