Kenneth L. Gerkin, Jr.

Kenneth L. "Butch" Gerkin, Jr., age 67, of Dayton, passed away December 7, 2023. He was born January 6, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Virginia Gerkin. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his infant sister, Connie Gerkin.

Butch is survived by his sisters: Mary Lou "Luigi" Focht (Gary) and Cindy Watkins (Bill); nieces and nephew: Holly Watkins Klitch (Tracy), Buddy Watkins (Abby) and Krista "Boo" Sturgill (Shane); great-nieces and great-nephews: Connor, Colton, Collin, Adriana, Gavin, Caden, Corbin and Carson; uncles: Jimmy O'Meara (JoAnn) and Danny O'Meara (Karen); friends: John Miko and Greg Kopp; and his beloved cat, Sam.

Kenny was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an Airman Apprentice who was chosen Sailor of the Quarter while stationed in Naples, Italy on September 7, 1975. Kenny was a Hydraulic Specialist for many years.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:30-11:30 am on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road. Military honors will follow.
