Kenneth A. "Stump" Thompson, age 86, May 13th,1923-March 21st, 2010.WWII vet, served in India and on the Island of Tinian, part of the Marianas Islands. Retired from Inland Division of General Motors as a General Foreman after 30 years and was a charter member of the Inland retiree club. Member of American Legion Post 746 for the past 45 years. Also a member of VFW Post 9942, Beaver, Ohio. He joined the Army and left Beaver in 1942; however his heart always remained a part of southern Ohio. Never forgetting where he came from and always bragging about his days in Beaver. He graduated from Beaver High School class of 1940, always trying to attend his class reunion. He also attended almost every Oktoberfest that Beaver held. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Donna, daughters, Deborah (Scott) Singer and Yvonne (John) Malashevitz, stepsons, Frank (Suni) Steve and Jeff Rock, and stepdaughter, Judy (Mike). He was blessed to have 5 granddaughters, Tiffany, Sarah, Gabrielle, Michelle and Jennifer, 3 step-granddaughters, Crystal, Amy and Tonya, 2 step-grandsons, Kenny and Jamie, 4 great-grandsons, 8 great-granddaughters. Additionally, there are 8 devoted kids that he cared dearly for, Meagan, Chelsea, Jordan, Jason, Nate, Noah, Ben and Abby. He is also survived by his brothers Ben, Damon, Dwight, James, and Ivan Thompson, and 1 sister, Yvonne Singer. Preceded in death by his mother Bertha, Father, Ben, brothers Bruce, Melvin Thompson and stepsons Jake, Jim Rock. Special thanks to Hospice of Dayton, nurse Debbie Miller and Robin, Dr. R.C. Patel and staff, Dr. Anne Reitz and staff. Kenneth was close to his longtime neighbors including, Jim and Pat Loffer, Bill and Norma Price. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton Pathway of Hope. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 1-5 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424). The service will follow at 5:00 PM. Burial will take place at a later date.
