RHOADES, Keith D. age 72, of Kettering, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2017. He was born in Richmond, IN to the late Lowell and Peg Rhoades. Keith graduated from New Madison High School in 1963. He went on to join the United States Army, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1971. He retired from General Motors after 37 years of loyal service in 1999. Keith was a gifted woodworker and had a kind and compassionate heart. He was always willing to help those in need, even in death he was able to help save many lives through organ and tissue donation.
Keith married the love of his life Mel, in 1996. They enjoyed traveling and spending time at their lake home. Keith was a loving, caring, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Rhoades.
Keith leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Mel Rhoades; daughter, Kris (Bill Wasner) Rhoades; granddaughter, Megan Wasner, who was the apple of his eye; sister, Jane (Bill Armstrong) Oliver; sisters-in-law, Jenny Rhoades, Kathy (John) Westerheide, and Karen (Joe) Vonderbrink; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Keith's life will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel at 7pm. Visitation to be held for 3 hours prior (4pm - 7pm). Inurnment to take place on a later date at David's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Keith's memory to the American Lung Association or to Community Tissue Services.
