Kay D. (Bias) Mitchell, age 87 of West Carrollton, Ohio passed away on July 16, 2024, in Miami Twp., Ohio. She was born on May 30, 1937, in South Point, Ohio.
Kay was a beloved educator who dedicated her life to teaching in several school systems. Her passion for education was evident from a young age. Graduating from South Point High School at the top of her class, she exemplified academic excellence. During her senior year, Kay's natural teaching ability shone through as she often found herself teaching her peers more than being a student herself. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Rio Grande University and later pursued her master's degree from The Ohio State University while maintaining an impeccable 4.0 GPA throughout her educational journey. Her thirst for knowledge led her to take continuing education courses at Marshall University as well. Kay was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Throughout her life, Kay wore many hats - mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, teacher, mentor, and lifelong learner - but above all, she was known for being incredibly smart. Her proudest accomplishments were a testament to her dedication and her unwavering commitment to helping others learn and grow.
Outside of the classroom, Kay indulged in various hobbies and interests that brought her joy. From watching the Game Show Network to savoring strawberry milkshakes, playing games like cards and Scrabble to enjoying a Christmas in July movie tradition, Kay's zest for life was infectious. She also had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling far and wide. A self-proclaimed "foodie," Kay relished a good meal, with ribs and sweet potato fries ranking as her all-time favorite.
Kay will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Autumn (Pat) Recker, Dwana Kriebel, and Lonnie (Kandice) Kriebel, Jr.; as well as her grandchildren, Stephanie Kriebel, Kathleen Kriebel, Dr. Marque (Alexa) Kriebel, Karrah Recker, Kyle Recker; great grandchildren, Hailey Ledford, Jack Ledford; great-great grandson, Brayln Ledford; as well as special niece, Daphny Ann (Dennis) Ball and family.
