Age 80, of Dayton, passed away, Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Miami Valley Hospital. Katie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 24, 1924 to Jim Tate and Rosie Haynes Tate. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her devoted and care-giver, husband of 48 years, Leroy Mahoney; daughters: Betty Edwards, JoAnn Mahoney and Linda Canada of Shreveport, Louisiana; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Shelly (Georgia), Roy and Audrey (Shreveport), Joseph and Elsie (Dayton), Roosevelt and Volume (Dayton), Rev. Jimmy Ray and Martha (Shreveport); a sister Beulah Tate, Dayton; brother John Tate, Shreveport; 16 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friends Lewis and Cynthia Tompkins. Funeral services 11 AM Friday, April 15, 2005 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Pastor Lavon Mann officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 9 AM – 11 AM. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of service. Interment at West Memory Gardens.
