Kathy E. Maguire, 67, of Dayton, and formerly of Wooster, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Kathy was born in Akron on November 21, 1954, to the late Hubert "Mickey" and Thelma (Walk) Maguire.
Kathy graduated from the University of Akron and taught at Blairwood Elementary School in Dayton. Prior to becoming a teacher, she was a children's librarian in Canal Fulton and director of numerous daycare centers in Wooster and Dayton.
Kathy was an active member of the Wayne County Democratic Party, as well as a long-time volunteer of Planned Parenthood in Wooster. She was a founding volunteer of Every Woman's House, now OneEighty, a domestic violence shelter and victim advocacy group in Wooster. After she moved to Dayton, she volunteered with the Montgomery County Democratic Party and helped with numerous campaigns.
She is survived by her life partner, Susan Wachtel of Dayton; daughter, Victoria "Vicky" Waltz; daughter-in-law, Jenn Guiry of Massachusetts; sister, Michelle Maguire of Berberton; uncle Charles "Dutch" Walk of Connecticut; uncle and aunt Warren and Nancy Walk of Pennsylvania; numerous cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kathy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 527 Beall Avenue, in Wooster, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 11 a.m.
