Katie S. Stroup-Kasper, age 64 of Huber Heights, passed away May 8, 2018. She was born in Dayton, OH to the late Elaine and Edward "Mike" Stroup. Katie graduated from Wayne High School in 1971.She was a member of the Wayne High School Alumni Band, playing the piccolo. She earned her bachelor's degree from Wright State University and her Master's degree from University of Phoenix.
Katie dedicated herself to the service of the United States, working as a civilian in the business sector of the United States Air Force. During her career she became a founding member of Women in Defense, even having a scholarship named in her honor. She will be fondly remembered for her hard work and dedication to service. In her free time, Katie enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends and family. She loved to travel and was able to see much of the world. Katie retired in March of 2018 after many years of loyal and faithful service. Her retirement ceremony was attended by many officers in the United States Air Force, including a general, a major, and many of her life-long friends.
Katie leaves to cherish her memory; sisters, Peg Stroup, Michele Campbell, Nancy Burns, and Laura Stroup; nephews, Brian Burns, Kevin Leaver, Kyle Leaver, and Alex Campbell; life-long friends and caregivers, Caryn (Dann) Chappelear and Mandy (Kurt) Geyer; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Newcomer-North Chapel at 7pm. Visitation to be held for 3 hours prior (4pm-7pm). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katie's memory to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
