Kathleen Elizabeth Monday
On November 9, 2015 the dearest, sweetest, beautiful Kathleen passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer and dementia at the age of 81. Kathleen was born in Hagan, VA on February 9, 1934 to her loving parents Apsy and Margie Ely. She was preceded in death by her parents; father of her children, Truman Franklin Monday; oldest son Frank; siblings Ruby Fee, Edna Ruth Ingle, Paul, Robert, Ernest, and Virgil Ely. Kathleen was a dedicated and unselfish service provider, who always put her family and others first without ever asking for anything in return. In her youth, she assisted her parents in raising her siblings, later in life, she raised a family, worked at a hospital, bakery, nursery, college cafeteria and a couple of restaurants. Kathleen always made sacrifices to make sure the ones she loved did not have to. Kathleen took pride in everything she did and her uncompromising work ethic set an excellent example for those around her. Throughout her struggles with the disease, Kathleen always displayed a warm caring smile and rambunctious personality. Kathleen loved walks, trips to Virginia, fresh vegetables, hats, baby dolls and candy. Kathleen is survived by her siblings Junior Ray (J.R.), David, James and Gene Ely; daughter Tina Poore and her significant other Robert and family; sons Rick and his significant other Mary and family, Dale, Jeff and his wife Ami. In addition, Kathleen is survived by her three grandchildren Dustin Poore, Katherine and Elizabeth Monday; brother-in-law Junior Fee; sisters-in-law Jeannie and Louise Ely and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mary Fuller, Terry Fields, Kathy Pettie and Pam Boos for providing support and care throughout her battle. A special thanks to Buckeye Home Health, Blackstone Home Health and Hospice of Dayton for their support during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Dayton. Kathleen will be laid to rest in Rose Hill, VA overlooking the valley she grew up in. A celebration of life will be held there at a later date. The joy she brought her family and friends is priceless and she will be dearly missed.
