Kathleen Cecelia Dunn

June 5, 1949 — July 8, 2022

Kathleen Cecelia Teresa Grant Dunn entered this world as a surprise on June 5, 1949, with her twin sister to Earl and Alice Grant Sr. in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her family grew up in the 9th Ward. She attended St Philip Catholic Elementary School and later graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School. Kathleen always had a caring heart which led her to attend the Orleans Parish School of Nursing, becoming one of the Best LPNs on earth, beginning her career at The Charity Hospital. She met and married the Love of her Life, Gary Lee Dunn on April 8, 1972; and they were recently blessed to celebrate 50 years of holy matrimony. The young couple relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1972 where they created a life and family-a union that created 2 daughters Leslie Shannon and Kimberlie Ann to which she was an Amazing Mother and Guidance. Kathleen loved being a Nawlins girl and brought many pieces of the Big Easy to Ohio-rooting for her beloved Saints, cooking a good pot of gumbo or red beans and rice! She continued her nursing career until retirement from Northwood Nursing and Rehab. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling over the road with Gary and the Girls even one year driving all the way to California. She loved playing on her personal slot machines-she always hit that jackpot. One of her favorite past times was just when she was taking it easy sitting on her porch catching the breeze or warming up by the firepit. The title she embraced so much was being the Best Gee Gee to her 4 beautiful grandsons, who received lots of love and kisses whenever they were around.

In 2007 Kathleen was diagnosed with breast cancer but with true grace, she stood with strong faith and let you know "The Good Lord is walking with Me, I am not alone" and even on the hardest days she didn't complain. She was the epitome of a true Christian Woman and blessed so many with her "I'm Okay" attitude. On July 8, 2022, God came and picked his Beautiful Flower to rest in his Garden of Glory.

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest".

Kathleen was preceded in death and reunited in Heaven with her parents, Earl and Alice Grant Sr, brother Earl Grant Jr, sister Lynn Toval. She leaves to cherish her memory husband Gary L. Dunn, daughters Leslie (Ron) Adkins, Kimberlie (Fletcher) Smith Jr; sister Brenda (Preston Smith), Twin Katherine Grant, brother Ernest (Ollie) Grant, 4 grandsons Derek Dunn-Melvin, Omarri L. Johnson, Ron II and Christopher Adkins, special friend Marie Stewart, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family, and friends.
