Kathleen "Kathy" Coty, age 73, of Vandalia, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 27, 2022, after a valiant fight against Breast Cancer.
Kathy was a 1992 graduate of the Upper Valley Career Center, where she obtained her nursing degree. While attending college, she worked many years at Grub Steak. After she received her Nursing degree, Kathy began her career at Stillwater Health Center, where she lovingly took care of her special residents for 20 years. After her retirement from Stillwater, she returned as a volunteer to keep sharing her special gifts.
Kathy embraced life as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Her passions in life were fishing, sewing, classic car conventions, and shopping, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor & Bertha Cox; sister, Glenda Robertson; brother-in-law, John Coty; and grandson, Joshua Eversole.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving, devoted husband of 30 years, Jim Coty; daughter, Cassondra Thorn; grandchildren: Joshua (Courtney) Thorn, Jera (Joel) Zook, Cali Glover, Stephen Reid, and Morgan Thorn; great-grandchildren: Theodore, Judah, Jane, Brooklyn, Sophia, and Ellie; her sisters: Jennifer Cox and Tavia Driscoll; her brothers: Jay (Robin) Cox and Alex Cox; brother-in-law, Don (Shirley) Coty; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Henry, Elaine Farney, Paulette Coty, and Eva (Stan) Rittgers; son-in-law & daughter-in-law: Steve & Valerie Thorn; and many, many special nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
Kathy always had a special love of life, a smile on her face and never knew a stranger. She will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
A visitation will be held from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 1:30pm, officiated by Pastor Joel Zook. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Royal Oak Cemetery in Brookville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's memory may be made to Stillwater Health Center or Miami County Hospice.
