Kathleen Clare Byrd

Kathleen Clare, "Casey" Byrd (nee Scholz), age 76, formerly of Huber Heights, OH, and California City, CA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Casey was born on March 13, 1944, in Omaha, NE. She was a graduate of Holy Name High School. She enjoyed dancing, entertaining, and playing Mrs. Claus at Christmas. Casey is a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She was a very remarkable, vibrant, compassionate person, and the centerpiece of her family. She was loved by all who knew her, and she returned that love by selflessly devoting her time and efforts to making her family and friends' lives better. Her kind-heartedness and optimism have left an immensely positive mark on this world felt by people inside and outside of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Joseph Scholz, Jr. and Clare Catherine Scholz (nee Talbot), and two of her children James Herbert Kmucha II, Joan Helen Kmucha.

Casey is survived by her husband of 26 years, Ralph Ronald "Ron" Byrd; her sons, Michael James Kmucha (Angela); Jeffrey Lee Kmucha (Marie); her grandchildren, Kathleen; Dustin; Danielle; MyLinda; Joseph; Elessandra; Marq; Emelia; her siblings, Francis Joseph "Joe" Scholz, III (Barbara); Judith Lynne "Lynne" Folsom (Don); Michael Bernard Scholz (Linda); Regina Eileen Alexander (Jerome); her step-children, Randy Byrd, Richard "Kevin" Byrd, Ronald "Rocky" Byrd (Sandy), and Rawnie Byrd-Arden (Ruby).

She will be cremated by Newcomer Funeral Home in Ohio and interred at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, NE. At this time there will be no funeral services, but a celebration of life will be held when it is safe to travel. The family would like to thank the staff of Wooded Glen Nursing Home for her wonderful care and Springfield Regional Hospital for everything they've done for her and the family. Casey will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
