Kathleen “Kat” Boman, 78 passed on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 with her family by her side and with strength, dignity, and love. She was an angel on earth and has finally found peace to leave us for Heaven. She will be a guiding light to everyone who loved her and we find peace in knowing our Kat will be watching over everyone she loved.
Born in Cranks Creek, KY on September 10, 1945 to Shelby and Joy Collins. Kat spent her childhood surrounded by 6 sisters and 1 brother. As a young adult, she moved to Dayton, OH, where she met the love of her life, Bill. Kat settled in New Carlisle, where she raised 3 beautiful kids that were her pride and joy. Kat dedicated 25 years to Tecumseh Local School District, where she accrued incredible friendships she has cherished for years. For the many with the privilege of knowing her… loved her. Kat was fiercely loyal and always knew the right things to say and make anyone laugh. Always opening up her home to all, cooking the most comforting meals and could put a smile on your face no matter the circumstance. Her family will miss their favorite things; Nanny’s jam, biscuits and gravy, peanut butter candy and dumplings. Each of us will continue to try perfecting her recipes and hopefully find comfort filling our home with little hints of our matriarch.
Kat poured her entire heart and soul into the people she loved the most. Her fierce love and loyalty was something to be admired. Her pride and joy was her family and loving them to her fullest. She leaves behind a legacy we will all strive to uphold and carry on. We leave you with a quote she used frequently, “Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.” She saw good in every person and we admired that piece of her heart.
Anxiously awaiting her, at the Hands of God, is her adoring husband of 50 years, Billy Hudson Boman, as well as their two sons Dwayne and Chris. She is survived by her daughter Missie (Brett) Detwiler, daughter-in-law Karen Boman; her grandchildren: Brooke (Ben) VanDyke, Austin Detwiler, Ryan (Ashlee) Boman, Grace Boman; great-grandchildren: Hank, Tate and Crew. Surviving siblings: Jean Prince, Irene Nichols, Erma Creager and her favorite brother, Billy Collins.
A special thank you to her incredible Hospice of Michigan caregivers Tammy and Ashleigh. Our hearts feel incredibly blessed to have been surrounded with their care and kindness during this difficult time.
