BEAL, Kathleen Grabaskas, age 68, of Spring Valley, Ohio, passed away on April 25, 2020.
An avid lover of the natural world, she received a Bachelor's from Ohio Dominican University and a Masters of Science, followed by a PhD in Ornithology, from the Ohio State University. Later, she completed Masters in Applied Statistics from Wright Sate University. She took her love of science into the classrooms and labs of Capital University, University of Dayton, Wright State University, and other institutions of higher education. For many years, she served as the indexer of the Wilson Bulletin, a scholarly ornithological publication.
Kathy was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Yellow Springs for several decades. She enjoyed reading, particularly mysteries, watching British television, contemporary alternative music, and, of course, she spent hours hiking and birding.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Stanley Grabaskas, and her sister, Mary.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Webb, her children Ara and Andrew (Rachel) Beal, her grandchildren Dane and Aurora Beal, her stepdaughter Virginia Becraft (Matt) and their children Elizabeth and Ethan.
She is also survived by four siblings, Irene Keating, Joseph, Stanley (Jean) and Peter (Devra) and twelve nieces and nephews.
