Kathleen Adamisin, age 74, of Northville, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2023. Kathleen was born in Detroit, Michigan October 13, 1948.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her father Michael Salinski, mother Tillie Salinski, and her husband of 45 years David Adamisin.
Kathleen is survived by her son Michael (Sarah), daughters Rachel and Meredith (Chris), and grandchildren who brought her great joy George Arthur, Henry Joseph "Joefish", and Lillian Jane.
Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother. Like the sun, her love shined on you when you needed it most. Her love was quiet, but present and sparkled like her beautiful green eyes, and helped her children have the confidence and strength to build wonderful lives of their own- something that truly made Kathleen happy. She found a way to weave wonder with simple joy and build memories that would last a lifetime. Most notable were summer vacations where she and David designed epic family road trips with nothing more than a payphone, AAA guidebook and a full tank of gas in their Aerostar Van- even achieving a trip to Disney World, Myrtle Beach and Washington DC in the span of 10 days. The trips were just as much about the journey as the destinations.
Whether through a cross country road trip or one of their favorite weekends to East Bay, Traverse City, Michigan, Kathleen and David would continue to find adventure into retirement. They found joy spending time together, and finding ways to bring their family together even as they grew up.
Kathleen devoted 25 years to Northville Public Schools where she served as a special needs educator for much of it. She forged many friendships, and there wasn't a year that went by that at least one child didn't make an imprint on her heart.
Prior to starting a family, Kathleen had an opportunity to travel the world with her friends and her husband David, learn, grow, and feed her soul. Her family loved hearing her stories and memories of her time abroad, and know that without a doubt, that time contributed to the beautiful person that was their mother.
Through a period of illness near the end of her life, Kathleen struggled to stay close to many of those she loved. And, while her ability to express it may have changed, her love endured. Her family invites those who loved Kathleen to remember the moments that made them smile.
At this time, a celebration of Kathleen's life is planned for the fall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathleen's Memory may be made to the Detroit Public Library DPL Foundation. 269 Walker St. Ste. 727 Detroit, Mi 48207. www.dplfound.org
