Katherine A. Mccarthy

Katherine A. McCarthy, age 73, of Huber Heights, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Stonespring of Vandalia. She was born August 7, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of the late William and Corrine Smith.

Along her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Bill Smith, Jr.; two infant siblings, Pam and Steven Smith; and best friend, Joann Jones.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Jenette (Kenneth) Whitson; son, Sean McCarthy; grandchildren, Cecilia Hammersley, Chris Hammersley, Michael Whitson, William Whitson and Matthew Whitson; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Connie (Aaron) Heffner, Michael (Joanie) Smith and Jenny (John) Smith-Baker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Kathi was a graduate of Wright State University where she received Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education. She taught at Wayne High School from over 30 years where she retired in 2016.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where her funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM.

The State of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face mask will be worn in all public places.
