Katherine Araiza, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend, left this world on February 28, 2025, at the age of 63, in Beavercreek, Ohio. She was born on November 21, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Pomona, where she laid the foundation for her impressive and dedicated career.
Katherine had a remarkable journey, dedicating her professional life to serving the State of California as a Correctional Officer across various locations. Her earlier years also found her working with the Department of Conservation and Job Corps, where her commitment to helping others began to blossom. With a heart rooted in compassion and a spirit of service, she truly embodied the qualities of an intelligent and sweet soul.
As much as Katherine cherished her career, it was her passions outside of work that painted the full picture of her vibrant life. She was an exceptional cook and baker, often experimenting with new recipes and delightful kitchen gadgets. To her, the kitchen was not just a place to prepare food; it was a space full of creativity, love, and joy. Katherine's fondness for music brought rhythm to her life, and she found relaxation and satisfaction in solving crossword puzzles. Her adventurous spirit often led her to the mountains and the beach, where she reveled in the beauty of nature, particularly while driving along the majestic Pacific Coast Highway.
Katherine was also an avid animal lover, particularly fond of cats, who brought her endless joy and companionship. The warmth of her heart extended to her love for sports as she passionately cheered for her beloved Tennessee Vols and Lady Vols Basketball teams.
Katherine leaves behind many cherished family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her loving mother, Audrey Kay Todd, her siblings: Cindy Becker, Albert Araiza, Robert Araiza, Melissa Fury, Melinda Todd, Dennis Perez, and Greg Araiza. She also leaves behind her dear aunt and godmother, "Aunt Quiti," and her treasured friends, Laurice Williams, Chuma Ajanaku, Kenny Abram, and Ola "Sunshine" Williams. Katherine's legacy will certainly continue through her numerous loving nieces and nephews, who will remember her warmth, wisdom, and love.
Katherine Araiza’s life was a beautiful mosaic of kindness, dedication, and zest for life, filling every space with warmth and purpose. She will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

“When I come to the end of my journey
and I travel my last weary mile,
just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
and only remember the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken;
remember some good I have done.
Forget that I ever had heartache
and remember I’ve had loads of fun.
Forget that I’ve stumbled and blundered
and sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard
battles and won, ere the close of the day.
Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day.
But in summer just gather some flowers
and remember the place where I lay,
and come in the shade of evening
when the sun paints the sky in the west.
Stand for a few moments beside me
and remember only my best.”
