Karl F. Rigg, born August 7, 1930, flew away on the morning of August 22, 2016 to be with the Lord. He was 86 years old. Karl graduated from Patterson Co-Op in 1948 and joined the Air Force soon after. He reached the rank of SSgt and served as a radar instructor at Keesler AFB, MS. It was here that he met his loving wife Joan J. Constance. They were married in 1950 and spent 66 loving years together. Karl graduated from Mississippi State University in 1957 with a degree in electrical engineering. During his career he worked at Dupont, NCR, and in the family business, Rigg Roofing and Sheetmetal, and was featured in Who's Who in American Engineering. He was a long-time member of Fairhaven Church in Centerville, OH where he served as a trustee and choir member. He was also involved in many facility projects around the church including crafting the copper sign for the front building.
He and his wife, Joan, moved from Kettering to Bethany Village in 2005 where he served on the Cottage Association and volunteered around the Village. Karl was a passionate woodworker and accomplished furniture builder. He loved to grow tomatoes, which he shared throughout the neighborhood.
Karl was a loving and involved father and grandfather. He was the youngest of nine children born to Jacob and Kizzie (Perry) Rigg and is survived by his wife Joan Rigg, and daughters Judith Taylor of San Antonio, TX and Lauri (David) Leggett of Centerville, OH. He has two granddaughters, Alena Taylor who currently resides in Manila, Philippines Islands, and Megan Atkinson of San Antonio, TX, as well as three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Anthony and Olivia. He is also survived by his oldest brother, Joseph Rigg, his sister Eleanor "Jean" Wean and sister-in-law Billie Rigg, third "daughter" Mary Beth Henze, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at Fairhaven Church on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 1 pm. Family will receive visitors one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fairhaven Church.
