Karen L. Smith, age 63 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born February 17, 1961 in Centerville, Ohio the daughter of Wilbur and Dorothy Lang.
Karen had an outstanding career in retail management at Elder Beerman's for 14 years. She then decided to pursue a career in education, graduating with honors from Wright State University for her undergrad and University of Dayton for her Master's Degree. She was a School Teacher for Beavercreek School District for 28 years. She was an avid advocate for and lover of animals, especially dogs.
She is preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Lang.
Karen is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas; children, Joi (Michael) Smith-Ross and Che (Izzy) Smith; grandchildren, Niyah, Nicolas, Mychael, Rami and Naseer; great grandchildren, Nazare and Nylan; her mother, Dorothy Lang; siblings, David (Lori) Lang and John (Deborah) Lang; nieces and nephews, Kacie, Ryan and Armwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA or St. Jude's Hospital in Karen's honor.
