Karen Marie (Kupecky) Hattersley, age 67, passed away on January 11th, 2023, in her home, in Beavercreek, Ohio, surrounded by her loved ones. Karen was born on June 20th, 1955, to Peter Paul Kupecky and Rita (Gresik) Sallese in Anchorage, Alaska. She was a strong, loving, and caring mother and Nana and a charismatic and driven businesswoman. Her favorite saying was, "Don't sweat the small stuff...it's all small stuff."
She fulfilled her dream of retiring at the beach when she moved to Pawley's Island, SC, but recently moved to Ohio to be near her children and grandchildren in her final year. She loved being around family and passed on her favorite hobby, shelling, to the grandkids when they would visit her at the beach. She loved puzzles, games, baking, dancing, and walking on the beach every morning.
She was raised and attended school in Johnstown, PA. She started her career in the medical field but quickly found that business and sales were truly her callings. She became a co-owner/operator in the medical weight loss industry, worked as a career advisor to executives, sold real estate in Las Vegas, and owned several women's boutiques. Later in life, she managed several retail stores for both Chico's and Bath and Body Works, and then later, still not ready to stop, she joined the team at Publix Supermarkets and finished her career as a licensed pharmacy technician. Karen thrived in all she did and improved processes in all her fields of expertise. She instilled a strong work ethic in all her children and truly loved helping others be the best they could be.
Her family will love and miss her terribly and include her significant other, Rick Kuhn living in Beavercreek, Ohio; daughter, Jaclyn Stubbs (her husband, John and children, Julia and Johnathan) living in Beavercreek, Ohio; daughter, Michelle Merschbrock (her husband, Dexter and children, August and Samson) living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and son, Eric Zierer (his wife, Jessica) living in Dayton, Ohio.
Her family will celebrate her life at the beach this summer.
