Karen Sue (Coburn) Gottschall

December 29, 1945 — January 25, 2019

Gottschall, (nee Coburn) Karen Sue, age 73, of Mason, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 25th.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William Carl and Mary Frances Coburn.

Karen was a 1963 graduate of Fairmont High School, and graduated from DePauw University in 1967. Karen retired from St. Susanna Parish, where she touched many lives as a pastoral minister. She loved stitching and quilting and made many beautiful pieces that will be treasured. Music was weaved throughout her life, she shared that love of music accompanying many choirs through the years, and with her numerous piano students whom she adored. She loved words, poetry, and books. And passed that love on to her children. She loved sharing knowledge and enjoyed passing her skills and recipes on to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, Amy (Pete) Ernst, Matthew (Carol) Gottschall, and Emily (Andy) Shields, and ten wonderful grandchildren, Annabel, Zachary, Becca, Ethan, Maggie, Emma, Eli, Sarah, Luke, and Sam.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 3rd from 2:00 until time of service at 4:00 at Newcomer South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH with a private burial to follow. A small memorial service is planned for Saturday February 2nd at 10:oo at Harmony Unitarian Universalist Community, 8639 Columbia Road, Maineville, OH.
