Kanith L. Stone, "Rocky", age 77, of Dayton, passed away on April 23, 2016. He was born on July 9, 1938, in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, to the late William and Lula Mae (Moore) Stone. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Stone; daughter, Cheryl Stone; sisters, Erma Collins, Wanda Smith; brothers, Bernie Stone, Raymond Bryant and Ray O'Brien. Kanith is survived by his children, Terry (Mike) DeLong of Toledo, OH; Christopher L. Stone of Sanford, FL; six grandchildren, Ben (Danielle) DeLong, Jon (Amanda) DeLong, Matt (Jodi) DeLong, Sam (Leslie) DeLong, Jennifer N. (Garrett) Carson, Jacob L. Stone; brother, Joseph Stone; sister, Wilma Bolender; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Sparkle. Early in life, Kanith was an electronics engineer. He is a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the 101st Airborne and a Ranger. He also served, along with Shirley, as a missionary to Mexico and Peru and was a pastor of several Assemblies of God churches in Ohio. Kanith, a former atheist, would want everyone to know that he gave his life to Jesus Christ in 1974, and spent the rest of his life serving him. Rocky was a man of many talents and abilities. He wrote children's books, carved chess sets and played the guitar. He held his Master's and Doctorate degrees from Logos Graduate School. He was very generous, helping many people throughout his lifetime. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 12:00 pm. to 2:00 pm. at Heritage Hills Memory Gardens, 7370 N. State Route 48, Springboro, 45066 with funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm.
