Julie Finley, age 85, of Tipp City, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2025. Born on May 15, 1939, in Crystal City, Missouri, Julie's influence extended well beyond her years, as she painted the lives of those around her with the vibrant colors of music, love, and grace.
Julie attended Murray State University and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Wright State University. She enjoyed her time as an elementary and preschool music teacher. Her love for teaching was evident not only in her formal classes but also in the countless private lessons she offered to students of all ages. As the devoted wife of an Air Force officer, her life was marked by transitions, yet she always found a home in her music. Julie served every church that she attended by sharing her amazing talent on the piano, organ and harp.
Julie's personality was a radiant reflection of her spirit-loving and gracious with a sense of humor, she approached life with an unwavering positive attitude. Her warmth and kindness enveloped everyone she encountered, and her generous nature made her a beloved friend and confidante. Described by those who knew her as a precious servant of the Lord, Julie embodied the principles of her devout Christian faith, nurturing both her family and her community with unwavering devotion.
Her passion for music remained a constant throughout her life. From a young age, she exhibited a natural gift for playing the piano and organ, and later fulfilled a long-held dream by taking up the harp in her fifties, adding to her growing list of talents. Beyond music, Julie was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling the world, cross-stitching, sewing, and woodworking.
Julie was an active member of the Huber Heights Church of God, where she loved playing piano for the Wednesday hymn service. Her affiliation with the Pathfinders Bible Study group and Harps of Grace further reflected her deep commitment to faith and fellowship.
She leaves behind her beloved children, Kathy Finley and Tom Finley (Marcia), and her adored grandchildren, Mitch Finley and Melody Nishizu (Hisashi), who cherished every memory made with her. The legacy of love continues through her great-grandchildren, Layla and Cameron, who brought immense joy to her heart.
Julie was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Rodney Finley; and her parents, Melvin and Marjorie Landes. Her life was a beautiful symphony of compassion, laughter, and unwavering faith, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
