Julia A. Sparks, age 71, of Dayton, passed away November 3, 2017. She was born July 25, 1946 in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late David and Audrey Newman. In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her brother, David A. Newman.
Julia is survived by her husband, Sterling Sparks; children: Tammie Mattingly, Karla (Christopher) Combs and Candy Sparks; grandchildren: Audrey Tipton, Ashley Craig, Angel Yamraj, Jordan Grant and Amber Grant; great-grandchildren: Breanna Tipton, Kylie Craig, Ashton Tipton, Addison Craig, Andrew Tipton and Logan Hall; brothers and sisters: Ted B. (Dianne) Spurlock, Linda K. (George) Curry, Rick L. (Gloria) Newman and Kimberly L. (Larry) Kinne; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Julia was a graduate of Meadowdale High School, class of 1965. She retired from General Motors and was a member of Greenview Calvary Tabernacle Church.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Greenview Calvary Tabernacle Church, 8010 N. Main Street Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm on Tuesday. Pastor Tim Livingston officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Greenview Calvary Tabernacle Church.
