Julia Jane Bitonti

BITONTI, Julia Jane (1915 - 2009), April 8, 2009, Julie put down her comb, scissors and bunny shovel for the last time today. We teased her about the "bunny shovel" because she was an avid gardener and it was a tool she used to chase critters from her yard (not every really catching one of them), but most knew her as proprietor of Julie B Hair Fashions in Roseville. At one time she had the longest active cosmetology license in Michigan.

She outlived her beloved husband John and daughter Janet. Julie had two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She moved with Pam to Fraser in 1969, only two blocks from Dave, where Pam and Dave met in high school and they have been taking care of each other ever since. Julie was near us in Dayton and passed quietly, two days before her 94th birthday.

Her great-grandchildren – Ben, Andrew, Sarah and her husband Phil, knew Julie as "Grammers". She was a great supporter in everything we tried to do, demonstrated by her faith and prayer life. Her favorite Bible verse was "Be still and know that I am God" – a great witness for someone who truly believed that God has a way and purpose in all things.

Grandma was a long time member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene and also was a significant part of the early years at Warren Woods. She served as a Sunday School Teach and Missionary President, having participated in two Work & Witness Projects in Australia and Africa.

Julie grew up on a simple farm with four sisters. They made it through the great depression.
This was their mealtime prayer that was said even as Pam was growing up…

Lord, we bow our heads before thee;
Thanking thee for this day,
And thy goodness to us.
Bless this food to the use of our bodies,
And us to thy service – Amen.

We bow our heads today in celebration of a loving Christian woman. Who we miss already… until that day when we are all together again. Thanks be to God who is merciful and great!

The family asks that any who would like to give something in honor of Julie Bitonti would provide a gift to Nazarene World Missions.
