Judith G. Parfitt

May 9, 1946 — September 16, 2019

On Monday September 16, 2019 Judith "Judy" Parfitt of Yellow Springs, OH went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Judy was born on May 9, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA and was raised in the community of Mount Washington. She was the daughter of James and Minnie Gratton, the youngest of six children.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Betty and Dorothy, and brothers James and Tom. She is survived by her sister Lois Bott and brother in law Richard (Dick) Statler.

Judy was the beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Parfitt. She was the much loved mother of son Jim (JJ) Henderson of Cedarville, OH and daughter Heather (Sandie) Spyrou of Spencerville, MD. Judy shared great joy with her eight grandchildren. Abby (Evan) Keller, Hannah, Emma, Jack, Molly and Levi Henderson. And Noah and Aaron Spyrou.

She was a member of Mount Washington Baptist Church of Pittsburgh, PA and Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton, MD. Her faith sustained her throughout her life and she loved to listen to hymns. She especially loved the Bill Gaither Trio.

As an adult, Judy spent many years in Pittsburgh and then moved to Clinton, MD. She enjoyed a career as a medical assistant, sacrificing much and working hard supporting two children as a single mom. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word games, and was a Scrabble expert. Judy loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers even after she moved away from her home town. In later years, she loved spending time with her husband, Jack, in their Florida home and particularly enjoyed her time in Disney World. She was selflessly caring for Jack in his last months. Following Jack's passing she moved to Ohio and was a blessing to her kids and grandkids. After a lengthy battle with lung cancer, Judy moved to Friends Care Community where she lived until she passed away. She was loved by the staff and was most often known for her quick wit and how she loved to joke with staff and visitors.
