Juanita Booso Schafer, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on December 3, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio. She departed this life on January 14, 2025, in Huber Heights, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for her family and community.
Juanita's educational journey began in New Lebanon, where she graduated from Dixie High School in the Class of 1962. She was well-known for her vibrant spirit, having been named Homecoming Queen, serving as a Cheerleader, and holding the title of Miss Senior. Her involvement in school activities blossomed into a lifelong commitment to serving others, evident from her early days in the school office where her caring nature began to shine.
For many years, Juanita dedicated her professional life as a home health care aide, embodying the epitome of compassion and selflessness. Her work not only provided comfort to those in need but also brought fulfillment to her own heart, as she touched the lives of countless individuals with her kind and caring demeanor.
As a longtime and faithful member of Lifeway Pentecostal Church, she found joy in hosting and attending Bible studies, gathering with fellow worshippers to nurture her faith. Juanita's nurturing spirit extended beyond her church family; she generously volunteered with local food banks, including the 3rd Street Mission, and was an ardent advocate for those less fortunate. Her giving attitude left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Juanita's legacy lives on through her beloved children: Paul Stringfellow (Angie), Tim Stringfellow (Neha), Melanie Bridenbaugh, Mary Ann Shawmeker (Scott), and Brenda Schafer. Her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, include Alyssa Gilmore, Brittany Nelson, Cayden Stringfellow, Destin Stringfellow, Elijah Stringfellow, Peace Stringfellow, Esther Lane, Johanna Danishek, Rocky Fernandez II, and Bethany Bennett. Juanita took great pride in her role as a grandmother and was thrilled to welcome six great-grandchildren: Avery Gilmore, Brinley Gilmore, Luke Danishek, Matthew Danishek, Serenity Fernandez, and Zarin Bennett.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Carol Poole, and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who cherished her presence and absorbed lessons of love and support from her life.
Juanita was predeceased by her mother and step-father, Ethel and Dewitt Crowe; her father, Russell Booso; her devoted husband, Paul Schafer; and her brother, Kenneth Booso. The strength of her spirit and the warmth of her heart will surely continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
