Juanita Goodpaster, age 89, of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 9, 2012.
Janita was born December 2nd, 1922 in Magoffin County, to parents Ernie and Emma Montgomery into a family of 12 children.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years Lloyd Goodpaster and her parents and following brothers and sisters. Lila, Neveda, Audrey, Maude, Helen, Laverne, and brothers Claude, Charles, Hayden, and Stanley.
She is survived by one sister, Magdalene Hawkins of Salt Lick, KY. and one special brother-in-law Reverend Harold and wife Jane Goodpaster of New Castle Indiana. Juanita is survived by four children, Danny and Marlena Goodpaster, John and Wanda Goodpaster, Anthony and Tammy Goodpaster and one daughter Marilyn Bingaman. Juanita leaves behind granddaughters Sherry Jacques, Julie Hamstead, Danny Marie Bursh, Dawn Ritchie, and Amy Morgan, grandsons, Mark Goodpaster, Scott Bingaman, Joseph Bingaman, Jordan McClain, Joshua Goodpaster, Jonathan Goodpaster, Anthony Goodpaster Jr., Hunter Goodpaster and Noah Goodpaster, 30 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Juanita and Lloyd were independent small grocers most of their lives. They owned stores in Salt Lick, KY, Mowrystown, OH and Midland, OH. They moved to Phoenix AZ. in 1966 and owned and operated two restaurants while there six years and returning to Ohio in 1972. After returning to Ohio they purchased two franchised Lawsons Dairy Stores and operated them in Trotwood and Union, Ohio operating them until Lloyd died in 1977.
Mother has gone on to be with dad and other family members who have preceded her and are awaiting her arrival in Heaven. The family wishes to give special thanks to Heartland of Miamisburg and Hospice of Dayton, whose wonderful care helped with her transition to her final realm of peace and glory.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 1-2pm at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424). The service will follow at 2pm. Burial will take place at Arlington Cemetery in Brookeville, OH.
