Joyce Elaine Porter

Joyce Elaine (nee Bailey) Porter, 73, went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2023. Loving wife of Willie Porter for 48 years, cherished mother of Russell (Anisha) Bailey and Stacey (Travis) Allen, adored grandmother of Sydney Allen, Aaren Bailey, Aija Bailey, Garrison Bailey, Sienna Bailey and Cameron Bailey, and beloved sister of John Bailey, Charles (Helen) Bailey, Michael (Kathy) Bailey, Angelo (Netta) Bailey, Lela Halcomb and Marilyn Bailey. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Jimmie D and Adeline Bailey as well as siblings Harriet Spruill, Jimmy Hershel, Ralph Bailey, Willie Bailey and Houston Bailey.

Joyce was born in Bowling Green, KY. She met Willie on an Air Force Base in Kentucky and after a year they were married. As a dedicated military spouse she traveled all over the world with him all while raising their family. They finally settled in Dayton, Ohio in 1985. Once her children were grown she spent 18 years working as a cashier at the Dayton VA.

In her free time she enjoyed playing golf and was known to her family as being "the Best Cook". Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family especially with her "twin" daughter Stacey.

Joyce will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery on Friday November 17, 2023 at 11:00 am.
