Mrs. Joyce Johnson, daughter of the late Thelmon and Nettie Dawkins was born February 15, 1946 in Lamar County Texas. Joyce most graciously received her wings on February 18th, 2022 surrounded by her family and loved ones.
She was united in holy matrimony to Richard Johnson, in Sedalia, MO on January 20,1973. This union was blessed with two beautiful sons: Richard (Jr.) and Reginald Johnson, whom she loved and cherished.
Those who knew and loved Joyce, know that she was a radiant woman, who was patient, always had a smile and always present for her husband and most cherished sons, family and friends. Joyce's favorite color was purple and her hobby's where sewing, knitting, gardening, and maintaining a lovely family home. Joyce created the most beautiful quilts in her spare time for family and friends, this was one of her many God given talents.
Joyce was the grandmother of three beautiful young people, Amiah, Katie Grace and Chad Johnson. Joyce cherished them and spoke of them with love and pride that could come only from a Grandma.
Joyce is survived by her husband and sons, Richard Johnson, Richard Jr (Carmel) Johnson of Dayton Ohio, Reginald (Jolene) Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Grandchildren: Amiah Johnson of Dayton, Ohio and Katie Grace and Chad Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Sisters: Eva Hawkins of Oklahoma City, Neva Forney of Alamogordo, New Mexico and Shirley Rosborough of Longview, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, who will cherish her memory always.
Joyce Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Thelmon and Nettie Dawkins. Siblings: Margaret, Patsy, Fred, Edward, Donald, Billy Ruth, Billy and Bertha.
Joyce Johnson will undeniably be missed by all the people she loved and all the lives she touched with her sweet hands, smile, laughter and beautiful soul.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm, on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, where Memorial Services will begin at 12:00pm, with James Forney officiating.
