Joyce Forbes-Dressler was born in Springfield, Ohio on October 13, 1939. She entered Heaven's gates on October 7, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio. She was a resident of Yellow Springs and previously lived in Xenia and Springfield, all in Ohio. Joyce attended Fairhaven Church in Centerville, Ohio for many years.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife, Joyce was the matriarch of her family and the glue that holds them together. For many years she made it her hobby to organize and display family photos in her home that have documented more than four generations of her family's daily lives. She loved spending time with her family, especially painting rocks with her great granddaughters. Joyce was a lover of dogs and leaves behind her Pug named Max.
She was very interested in historic preservation and urban planning. Joyce served as Clark Country Transportation Planner for TCC after obtaining her bachelor's degree in urban studies from Wright State University. Joyce also was member of the Xenia Ohio Planning and Zoning Commission for several years. After Joyce retired, she proudly served as a volunteer at the Clark County Historical Society Heritage Center in Springfield, Ohio for over ten years logging more than 2,500 hours of service.
Joyce was survived by her husband, Charles "Ed" Dressler of Yellow Springs, Ohio; daughter Talerie Brown of Waynesville, Ohio; son Kendall Forbes of Las Vegas, Nevada, granddaughter Christin Martindale of Xenia, Ohio; four great grandchildren Gavin Wellman, Ava Wellman, Emily Wellman, and Xavier Martindale oh Xenia, Ohio; son-in-laws Marco Torres Perez of Las Vegas, Nevada and Nathan Martindale of Xenia, Ohio; step-children Michelle Henson of Memphis, Tennessee and her family and Craig Dressler of Huber Heights, Ohio and his family; nephews Bill Scott and Loren Wilson; and extended family Fred and Carolyn Forbes, and Juanita Thomas.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Lucille and Robert Nicewaner, sister Shirley Wilson, and nephew Terry Wallace.
The family gives everyone who cared for Joyce their gratitude, especially the Pink Ribbon Girls where donations can be made in lieu of flowers. A private funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Woodland Cemetery on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 11:00 AM at 281 Dayton Avenue, Xenia Ohio 45385
