Joyce May Belcher White

Joyce May Belcher White went home to be with the Lord on October 16, 2023, at the age of 90. Born in Jenson, Kentucky, on May 4, 1933, Joy served the Lord gladly all her life. She married Robert "Bob" Belcher and worked faithfully alongside him as he pastored Avondale Baptist Church in Dayton, OH, Calvary Baptist Church in Wharton, WV, and Southwestern Baptist Tabernacle in Alamogordo, NM.

After Bob's passing, God blessed Joy with a second love, Mondell White, and the two spent happy years together. Since Mondell passed, Joy lived alongside family in Dayton, OH and Alamogordo, NM, before moving to Pensacola, FL to settle with her daughter, Debby, and her family.

Joy will be missed for her kindness, her beauty, her wisdom, and her unconditional love of family.

Joy is now reunited with loved ones who have preceded her in death, including parents, Charles and Goldie Miles; first husband, Rev. Robert Belcher; second husband, Mondell White; sister, Ruth Miller, and daughter, Peggy Henry.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Miles of Garland, TX; daughter, Debby Sowell and son-in-law Ronny Sowell of Molino, FL; son-in-law, Allen Henry of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Beth Henry of Dayton, OH, Jeremy Ball (Aziza) and Jerome Ball of Gulf Breeze, FL, Ron Sowell (Leslie) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Jonathan Sowell (Sophia) of Laurel Hill, FL, Jared Sowell (Natasja) of Navarre, FL. She was lovingly adored by her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Friday October 27, 2023 at 4:30 pm with service to follow at 6:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
