Joyce Ann Baker, age 66, of Dayton, passed away on January 22, 2020. She was born September 16, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Robert and Hazel (Hanauer) Habel.
Joyce grew up in the Walnut Hills area of Dayton, attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Belmont High School. During this time Joyce and her friends hung out in Walnut Hills Park becoming known as the "Rat Pack" and maintained their friendships throughout her life. After high school Joyce's first job was as a cashier at the Liberal Market on Linden Avenue and she loved punching those keys!
Joyce worked at Dayton Phoenix Group retiring into the next chapter of her life after more than 30 years of service. During her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her friends around her swimming pool, talking on the phone with her best friend, Martha, going to Longs Retreat with her longtime friend, Dan Bonsel, and watching murder mystery shows on TV. Throughout her life Joyce was an animal lover and her most recent fur babies are Booboo and Yogi who will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her sister, Jeanette L. Rapp; nieces and nephews: Theresa J. Heiser, Robbin L. Staup, Richard L. Staup, Tammy M. Crider along with many other nieces and nephews, a host of many longtime friends, and her devoted Booboo and Yogi.
Joyce was a beloved aunt, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 9:30 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton in Joyce's memory.
