Joyce Marie Audas

December 7, 1940 — February 7, 2018

Audas, Joyce Marie, 77, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton, on February 7, 2018, after losing her hard-fought battle with cancer. She was able to stave off the inevitable for one and a half years because she was so healthy, strong and tenacious. "She went reluctantly," Joyce said, "that's what I want my obituary to say." Joyce reluctantly leaves behind her beloved wife, Linda Moore and cherished sisters, Linda (Joe) Trapp and Kathy (Rick) Snow. Joyce was a doting aunt to niece, Dana (Bob) Hochwalt; nephews, Tony Trapp and Mark (Anessia) Snow; great nephews Jordan and Brynnan Snow and Robert Hochwalt, as well as great nieces, Maddie, Kate and Molly Hochwalt. Joyce enjoyed a very successful career as a corporate accounting manager, often teasingly called "Queen of the Spreadsheet!" After retirement, Joyce loved being a snowbird. She and Linda spent their winters in Cape Coral, FL., playing lots of golf, trying the local restaurants, relaxing by the pool and getting together with their many friends who also wintered in Florida. Joyce's love of travel started with her military service in the Army, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany as a medic with a rank of Staff Sergeant. Anxiously awaiting Joyce's arrival in Heaven are her parents, Robert and Gladys Audas; sister, Mary Gwen Audas; baby brother, Bobby Lee Audas and nephew, Aaron Snow. Special cousin, Dee Szucs of Charleston, SC, who passed on February 4, will also be there to receive her. Dee helped Mom care for newborn Joyce and always reminded her "I've known you longer than any other person alive!" Joyce loved ferociously, unconditionally; she always gave loving, good advice, but only when asked. She was, without a doubt, the funniest, wittiest, smartest person in the room, but also the kindest person, always. Our hearts are broken at losing Joyce and she leaves a void that can't be filled. We let her go ... reluctantly. Family requests no flowers. If you wish to honor Joyce's memory, a memorial donation may be made in her name to Hospice of Ohio, or to your favorite charity. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.NewcomerDayton.com. A private graveside service will be held for family. A memorial service will take place at HARMONY CREEK CHURCH, 5280 Bigger Road, Kettering, Ohio, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00AM. Family will receive guests after the service.
