Joyce Rae Adams

Joyce (Joy) R. Adams, age 81, passed away on July 9, 2023, and has gone home to be with the Lord in Heaven. She was born on June 11, 1942, in Piqua, Ohio, to her late parents Ray McConnaughey and Dorothy Arrasmith. For the majority of her life, Joy resided in Fairborn, Ohio. She held a deep love for her church, music, and her family. Joy's numerous grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she loved them dearly.

The summer was Joy's favorite time of year, and she embraced it wholeheartedly. Whether she was welcoming her family and friends from the community, or enjoying a ride in her power chair down the bike path, she relished these moments spent outdoors. Joy had a deep affection for people and was a well-loved individual in her community, leaving a loving impression on everyone she met.

Her absence will be deeply felt, and she will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Adams; son, Kenny Adams; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Joy) Smith; granddaughter, Tammy Ryder; sisters, Sherry Brown and Rachel Vincent. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Mindy Belvo (Dan), Shelly Black (Dan); son, Mark Darrin Smith; grandchildren, Lisa Ryder, Michael Ryder, Josh Webb, Scott Webb, and ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Williamson, Diane Potts, Debbie Wilson, Denise Hinders; brothers, Rod McConnaughey, Randy McConnaughey, Len McConnaughey, Daryl McConnaughey, Ray Jr. McConnaughey, Kenny Smith, Timmy Smith and several other extended relatives.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30pm. Joyce will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fairfield Cemetery in Fairborn, Ohio.
