Joshua Michael King, 33, of Scottsdale AZ left this world to be with Jesus on December 17, 2018. Joshua was born June 5, 1985 in Kettering Ohio to Michael and Belinda King. He attended Coronado High school in Scottsdale AZ, where he excelled in track and football, where he played many positions, but he excelled as a wide receiver. He still holds a few school records for receptions and touchdowns. He graduated in 2003 and then walked on as a receiver at Arizona State University. He also played football at Scottsdale Community College. He held various jobs over the years and recently was working as a landscaper, as he loved the outdoors. His day started before the sun came up and he loved taking pictures of the sunrise and of the desert landscape, which he shared with friends on Facebook and Instagram. Joshua will be remembered as having a passion for helping others over himself. On a weekly basis he gave his lunch to homeless people along the road. He would give them his water or Gatorade. He would give them cash or buy them a hot sandwich. He would sit and talk with them and give them an encouraging word. His boss was so inspired that he started doing the same.
He was a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan and once while in high school, attended a summer football camp in the horseshoe. He was able to attend a few Bowl games in AZ and CA over the past few years with his Dad and they treasured that time spent together, cheering on their favorite team. He was a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds and AZ Diamondbacks. He also was able to attend a NY Yankee game in the original stadium before the new one was built. He was also a self-proclaimed "Momma's Boy" and they were the best of friends. They had gone shopping just the day before he left this earth, enjoying a soft pretzel and Mountain Dew at the Mall. He most recently took a road trip with a very close friend from elementary school, Nick Fuller, driving up the coast of CA and spending some time in San Francisco. When he was younger, he spent summers in Ohio with both families, taking trips to Gatlinburg, Kings Island, Salyersville KY to visit his Great Grandparents Bill and Blanche Montgomery, and to Fraziers Bottom to visit dear family there. He had a huge passion for music, listening to many different types 24/7.
Joshua is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Belinda (Crowder) King of Scottsdale AZ, Grandparents, Edward and Anna Crowder of Beavercreek Ohio, Grandfather Shelby King of Dayton Ohio, Aunts - Donna Magnotta (Mike), Sherry Sparks (Kevin), Sandra Brandenburg (Ronnie), Marilyn Mohler (Wally), Maureen Kelley (Ed), and Melanie Reno (Lee), Uncles - Ed Crowder, Jr (Maria) and Matthew King and many loving cousins and extended family that he was very close to and loved spending time with. He was preceded in death by Grandmother Dorothy King and Uncle Marlin and Aunt Joyce King.
Joshua will be remembered most for his loving manner in which he treated each person he encountered, but more importantly, for his love for his family and friends. A Memorial Service was held in Scottsdale for his many dear friends. Visitation in Ohio will be held at Newcomer...… Dayton Xenia Road on Saturday, December 29th from 10am to 12 noon with a service beginning immediately following. Joshua will be laid to rest at Mt Zion. Joshua would love if you stopped and helped someone in need and think of him while doing so.
