Josephine (Jo) Paula Maiden Name DePinho, age 98, of Boston, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home April 8th, 2024.
Preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Paula in October 1985, by her two Brothers: Joseph DePinho and Manuel Warren DePinho.
Survivors include four children, Jeanne Paula, Arminda (Mindy) Pinto (Tony), Manny Paula and Lisa Paula-McGinley (Tom), by two Sisters-in-Law Maria Augusta Paula and Leonor (Lee) Paula, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, many Paula and DePinho nieces and nephews, and close friends Kay and Allan Daily and Joyce and Alan Kasprzak.
In the Boston area Jo worked as Tri-lingual Mental Health Worker for the cities of Cambridge and Somerville Massachusetts providing service to Spanish and Portuguese families of young children with special needs working with clinical staff and initiating appointments with appropriate agencies and clinics. In 1985 the Greater Boston Committee for UNICEF honored Jo for her outstanding contribution on behalf of the children of the Greater Boston area. Retired in 1988, Jo moved to Ohio in 1989 to be with daughter Mindy and family. In the greater Miami Valley Area Jo volunteered at Oakview Elementary in Kettering, from 1989 - 1996 working with teacher Kay Daily organizing her lessons and the classroom. From 1997 - 2001 Jo volunteered as Recreation Assistant at St. Leonard's working with David Loxley with assisted living patients taking them to museums, outings, restaurants and more.
Memorial Gathering will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439). Memorial Service will be officiated by Father Daniel J. Meyer at 1:00 pm following the gathering.
